GRIND’S HEAT BURGER

There’s a newly-opened burger place in SM North EDSA called Grind and while I’ve passed by a couple of times, I never really got to try it out.

Last week, when Sadako was confined in the hospital because of dengue, I went to SM North EDSA to try to look for a book she really wanted. That was my fourth branch of National Book Store and they still didn’t have it.

Defeated and stressed and tired and hungry, I passed by Grind and thought I should finally try it because I also felt like I deserved a treat.

I asked for their vegetarian-friendly offering, the Wise Burger, which has a patty made of chickpeas, shiitake, and black beans, but they unfortunately didn’t have it.

I opted for their Heat Burger, which looked really beautiful when it arrived. The burger patty was chunky and juicy, and it had the usual: cheese, lettuce, and tomato. I like that it came with two pieces of really crunchy onion rings. I also liked the secret special sauce that was spread on the buns.

On the other hand, I wish the pickles were a lot more tangy and that the jalapenos had a stronger kick. We’re talking about a supposedly spicy burger, after all.

All in all, it was a pretty good meal, plus the service was really good. I got a bottomless glass of iced tea and the server refilled my glass every time it was half-empty.

I am definitely going back for that Wise Burger.
