I recently attended the #ConversePHFall14 event, bringing some of the GMA Artist Center talents: Ruru Madrid, Hiro Peralta, Kenneth Paul Cruz, Thea Tolentino, and Gabrielle Garcia.

I had a great time because of several reasons.

It was like a reunion. I saw Gianna and Dinna of Manila Standard Today after forever (and after trying to schedule a lunch meeting and failing miserably), stylish blogger-sister Verns and Verniece Enciso after forever (also), and other friends from different publications.

I also saw a couple of interesting personalities: Kean Cipriano, who was as usual wearing shades so I didn’t feel like saying hi to remind him we met once a long, long time ago; Christian Vasquez, who I follow on Instagram but didn’t say hi to; and Epi Quizon (aka the Johnny Depp of the Philippines), who was nice enough to say hi to me and shake my hand on his way out even if we’ve never met before.

And then there are the shoes. I didn’t have the time to look at everything since I was busy introducing the artists to everyone, but a lot of the styles really caught my eye. Good thing I have a press kit so I can stare at all the beautiful shoes. Lots of different beautiful styles but the following are my favourites, and where I’d wear them.

CONS Weapon

These black and white kicks remind me of the shoes my hunky grade school classmates would wear during P.E. so I guess I’d wear them when I wanna be one of the (straight) guys. Or make them get close to me, complimenting my shoes.

CONS Weapon Skate

These are the perfect sneakers for quality time at the mall with Sadako. They are lightweight and comfy (thanks to plush cushioning), they allow feet to breathe, and they have a traction rubber that enhances grip and durability. This means I can easily run after Sadako, and that slipping would be avoided.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Rubber

I really stared at these when I saw them during the launch, not just coz they were submerged in water, but also because the red and yellow ones are so attention-grabbing. I’d wear the red or yellow or white ones anywhere, as long as I’m wearing an all-black outfit.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 Woven

I’d wear these ethnic-inspired hi-cuts if I’d attend a music festival – and I wanna look as young as the other guys. Of course, I’ll partner them with a pair of colourful shorts, a tank top, sunnies, and a cap. And a backpack.

Converse Jack Purcell Cross Stitch

These brown beauties are perfect for casual Fridays at work. They’re very casual but the leather upper and square wax cotton laces make them appropriate enough for the office, or at least lunch meetings.

Converse Jack Purcell Ox

These shoes have a tight, water-resistant weave designed for winter wear but I so want to use this Wild Honey one for a summer outfit that involves a tank top paired with khaki or denim shorts.

Converse Jack Purcell Mid

These mid sneakers are perfect for those lifestyle events that I attend together with the GMA Artist Center talents. They look hip but also very respectable because it’s made of leather and has aluminium eyelets.

Converse by John Varvatos All Star Multi-Eyelet

These look really good. I’d wear these to those lifestyle events, too, and I’m sure they’d get compliments. I especially love those multiple eyelets. Don’t you? Look closely.
