My cellphone isn’t a touch screen one. It’s not even fancy. When it comes to cellphones, it’s always been “the simpler, the better” for me. I don’t really care much about impressive features because I use my cellphone just for calling and texting. Besides, I’m not the type who’d shell out a lot of cash for expensive cellphones—and you know how expensive these gadgets can get. The more impressive the features, the more ridiculously high the price.

A month ago, Topstrasse Global Inc. sent me two Torque touch screen phones to test: the i58 Spark and the i98 Trilogy. Since I am a touch screen virgin, I was hesitant to use the phones at first, so a couple of days passed before I took out the phones from their boxes. However, it didn’t take long before I got the hang of tapping and swiping.

I spent one week using the Torque i58 Spark, which I have to admit served me well. Since I am a touch screen virgin, it was pretty challenging to use for texting but I did get the hang of it after a couple of days. In fact, I think I am now a professional “tapper”, considering how much I played the phone’s addicting Magic Sushi game. This dual SIM phone, which has a 2MP camera, was also a great source of entertainment because of its WIFI connectivity, built-in FM radio, and mobile TV.

The next week, I tested the Torque i98 Trilogy, which looks really beautiful with its slim size and bronze shell. I had even more fun with this WIFI-enabled device, thanks to its large 3.8-inch screen, which makes watching TV shows (via its free-to-air mobile TV feature) a pleasant experience. Apart from its 3MP camera’s ability to take decent photos and video clips, I also like how it has triple SIM and triple standby capabilities, plus a Micro SD slot that can accommodate up to 16GB of storage. By the end of the week, I didn’t want to let go of the phone (thanks partly to its Link game).

The best thing is that even if they are loaded with all these cool features, the Torque phones are affordable. The i58 Spark is within your means at P2,888 while the i98 Trilogy is a steal at P3,988.

Even celebs are fans. Kapamilya Deal or No Deal host Luis Manzano, Kapuso actress Carla Abellana, singer Billy Crawford, and TV host Iya Villania believe in the Torque products that they signed up to be endorsers of these gadgets.

I’m about to return the phones and I think my fingers are missing them already.
