One of the cartoon shows I loved to bits when I was a kid was “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” I didn’t really question why Alvin, Simon and Theodore were huge, and worse, had a human dad—all that mattered to me was that they were great singers who sang catchy songs. I didn’t even find their voice funny. There was something so spectacular about their performances—their voices blended well, they had awesome choreography, and it always turned out to be a grand production number with backdrop changes, smart editing, cool props, and even special effects. All I knew was that I wanted to be a Chipmunk when I grew up.

Interestingly, when the Chipmunk movie came out some time ago, I wasn’t interested in seeing it. And now that’s there’s a squeakwel coming out soon, I’m still not excited—even if the Chipettes are there.

Here’s the trailer for the squeakwel, anyway, which is okay—until around 1:30, when it becomes super cool.

I think I just might watch it then.
